When the weather turns cold and the holidays approach, the Bronx community comes together. This year, T.H.A. Godmother is excited to launch our Access Plus Alliance initiative with Suit Up & Serve: A Holiday of Care & Creativity. Join us on Saturday, December 6th, from 12 PM to 3 PM at 1680 Seward Avenue.
This isn’t just another community event. It’s a beautiful reflection of what happens when care, creativity, and compassion unite to meet real needs—right when they arise.
Meeting Practical Needs with Dignity
We understand that families are doing their best. Yet, sometimes the small things—like replacing a lost sweater, a missing polo, or a pair of gloves—can feel like an added weight on the shoulders of already stretched parents.
The Uniform Giveaway is designed to lighten that load. Forty Bronx students will receive fresh school uniforms or gift cards from Flynn O’Hara to help replace what’s been lost along the way. It’s a small but meaningful gesture. It ensures our children can walk into school feeling confident and cared for. Parents can take a sigh of relief, knowing they’ve been supported by their community.
Caring for the Caregivers
But we know that care doesn’t stop with material support. That’s why Suit Up & Serve also includes a Sip & Paint experience just for caregivers and parents—a chance to sit, breathe, and create.
Parents give endlessly—their time, energy, patience, and love. Often, what they need most isn’t another task on the to-do list; it’s a moment to simply be. This Sip & Paint offers that: a safe space to decompress, connect, and remember that rest is also a form of service.
This event reminds every mom, dad, grandparent, and guardian that their mental health matters. Their joy matters. They deserve the same care they so freely give to others.
Listening, Not Assuming
At T.H.A. Godmother, we don’t create programs just to “do something good.” We listen to what the community asks for—and we respond.
When families told us they needed more uniform support, we found a way. When caregivers shared that they needed moments to unwind, we made space for that too. And when partners like Access Plus Alliance stepped in, we witnessed again what’s possible when collaboration replaces competition.
This event is not about us giving what we want to give. It’s about meeting families where they are and offering what’s needed most: help, hope, and humanity.
Serving with Love, Because That’s What the Bronx Deserves
Suit Up & Serve is a celebration of community care—the kind that’s pressed down, shaken together, and running over. It’s a reminder that service is not about grand gestures, but about consistent acts of love that ripple outward: a new uniform, a fresh meal, a moment of rest, a restored sense of belonging.
As we gather this December, we’re not just distributing resources. We’re strengthening relationships. We’re building trust. We’re creating a space where giving feels like receiving for everyone involved.
